Villa La Massa, immersed in the Florentine countryside, on the bank of the Arno river.

We had been a little stuck in publishing articles on this blog, because staying at home meant preventing the spread of Covid19. Now the situation has fortunately improved, normal life begins which is also made of travelling and exploring. Indeed, health security remains a cornerstone to which all travel operators take inspiration to allow people to finally spend a few days of vacation in peace.

Since the borders between countries are being gradually opened, as well as the restoration of air connections, in the next articles we will focus mainly on destinations in Italy, and in resorts suitable for guests looking for elegant places not too crowded with adequate spaces for  social distancing.

Today I explore with you a beautiful resort in the Florentine countryside, just 8 km from Florence. This is Villa La Massa, a complex of buildings - the Villino, the Mill, the Farmhouse - around the 16th century Noble Villa , the summer residence of Santi Landini, a famous publisher belonging to the Florentine aristocracy. The location is incredible in a bend of the Arno river. The complex offers 51 accommodations in rooms / suites and 5 villas. La Limonaia, inaugurated in September 2019, houses 8 prestige rooms and two suites on two floors: private gardens are available on the ground floor while on the first floor there are balconies which offer enchanting views of the Arno. Here the furnishing style is more contemporary but still in line with the Renaissance atmosphere of the other buildings.

A large outdoor swimming pool lets you spend pleasant moments of relaxation on summer days. All around a 10 hectare park with one side on the river bank, outside the magnificent Tuscan countryside stretches with its olive trees, vineyards and cypresses. A special garden is dedicated to the Iris flower, the symbol of the city of Florence. The Verrocchio restaurant, with a splendid terrace overlooking the Arno, has a romantic atmosphere, especially when you have dinner by candlelight, with a wide menu not limited to the excellent dishes of local cuisine, using vegetables and aromatic herbs collected from the Chef's Garden inside the park area. If you long to spend a few days of vacation forgetting negative experiences and reappropriating the pleasures of life, this is absolutely  your place.
