In Los Angeles, a luxury hotel with an Italian heritage fascinating history

I have a thing for hotels housed in buildings that have a special history. In this blog, my colleagues and I have often told these fascinating stories. In this article I dedicate my attention to a luxury hotel, affiliated with Virtuoso, which is located in one of the symbolic cities of the United States: Los Angeles. It is a brand with a strong New York connotation, The NoMad, not surprisingly the name derives from the trendy New York neighborhood of the same name, with its luxury condominiums, elegant hotels, trendy restaurants and bars. The NoMad Hotel in New York is housed in a Beaux-Arts style building. In Los Angeles, this vision of hotellerie, founded on a mix of location in trendy residential areas and historic appeal of the building, is absolutely respected, and somewhat speaks Italian.

In fact, the hotel is housed in the former headquarters of the Bank of Italy, founded by Arturo Giannini in 1920. The 12-storey building, built in a neoclassical architectural style, with Doric columns, marble floors and decorated ceilings, is also known as Giannini place. Downtown in Los Angeles, previously considered a neighborhood to be frequented during the day just for business reasons, in recent years has turned into a fashion area, with famous art museums, innovative restaurants and highly appreciated bars. The NoMad Hotel in Los Angeles offers 241 rooms and suites, with an Italian-inspired design, and 10,000 - square feet of indoor and outdoor spaces for events and private dinners. On the roof available for guests there is a magnificent swimming pool, a cafe and cocktail bar with sweeping views of downtown. Could there be no mention of food and wine in such an enchanting place? I only tell you that the catering is from the  magic team of Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, who after the success of their experiences at The Nomad New York City and Eleven Madison Park, which ranked first in the top 50 restaurants in the world in 2017, they bring their gastronomic art to the City of Angels, inspired by the vibrant culture and traditions of this spectacular metropolis.
