A special day in Bali between wellness and spirituality

Bali is a traditional holiday destination, especially in summer, due to its pleasant climate, lush nature, many beaches, excellent resorts. However, what is striking about this island is the profound spirituality of its inhabitants, expressed in the many rituals that mark the days and in the many temples, both public ones of historical and cultural interest, and private ones in homes.

For this reason, I suggest you dedicate a day to immerse yourself in this type of local culture in the best way. A guide and driver will take you to the small village of Mas, which is about 15 km from Ubud, the main cultural center of the island.

In Bali there is a great artisan tradition, instead of using machines in general, people prefer to work with their hands and keep the ancient crafts of their ancestors. Normally these trades were developped for offers to the gods, for this reason there are communities dedicated to different artistic and craft tecniques.

Mas is renowned for the skill of craftsmen in carving wood, a technique that has been handed down from generation to generation: from large sculptures made for temples to small decorative figures, here you find a wide variety of craft works and workshops.

Firstly  you will meet the local astrologer, who will explore your future using ancient and mysterious methods. Remember the movie Prey Eat Love? Julia Roberts also had this experience in Bali, where consulting the astrologer is common practice. The experience of Balinese mysticism then continues with a private blessing imparted by a priest in the temple of his home.

After the nourishment of the spirit, it is now time to enjoy the care of your body. After a short drive you will reach a picturesque spot on the bank of the Ayung river. You’ll find a private tent, equipped with sunbeds to receive a relaxing traditional Balinese massage, while you let yourself be caressed by the fresh air with the background of the sounds of nature.

At the end of the massage it’s not still time to come back. Is there a better way to end a pleasant regenerating day for the body and the spirit than a picnic at the river with three courses carefully prepared by a chef? Then enjoy your meal and welcome to Bali, the "Island of the gods".
